0 to Z of Playstation 1 Games - 10101: "Will" the Starship
10101: Will the Starship was a Sci-Fi adventure shooting RPG
according to the information I have been able to pull out of the net, the game
developed by either Suntech Japan or Sound Technology and was released
exclusively in Japan for the Playstation 1 in November 1997 the game has a full
voice cast with voice actors Ai Iima Ai, Kyoko Onika, Masayuki Iizuka, Toru
Okawa, Akira Ishida lending their vocal talents to the game
10101: Will the Starship is a space combat adventure game, the
game is set on the bridge of your star ship the games camera is set to the back
of the bridge looking forward the combat
has the player moving a target reticule over enemy ships and shooting them the
missions are interspersed with anime style still cut scenes with characters
talking over the cut scenes
Apologies in advance here I
have no idea what is going on (see above for Gameplay video)
10101: Will the Starship reviews are hard to find I have
managed to find one GameFAQs has the
game rated a 3.63/5 out of a total of 17 ratings for the game with the vast
majority rating the game 3.5 or 4 stars with them standing at 26.67% and 33.33% respectively.
Another 13.33% scored the gane 4.5 stars while 6.67% gave the
game a full 5 out of 5 stars, at the other end of the spectrum 13.33% of
reviews gave the game a 2 star rating with 6.67% giving the game a 2.5 out 5.
This is the part of 0 to Z where is visit four online
retailers and see what the availability of the title is, and what price you
would be looking at if you wanted to pick this title up the sites that I will
be using for this are Amazon.com, eStarland.com,
retrogames.co.uk and Gamedude.com I know the last one is very location specific
but from a podcast I listen too I have heard they have a huge stock of older
games.
So lets get down to business we may as well start with
Gamedude no real surprise here the California based store has no copies of the
game, the game is not even on their list of ps1 games which is not a surprise
with the game not having a North American release the same for eStarland.com
and the UK based Retrogames.co.uk neither have a copy of the game
No real surprise then is Amazon is the only place to find
this game and likely any other Amazon like site with prices for a used copy
starting at $8.49 which is about £6.46 with an additional $3 for shipping this
is of acceptable quality, if you are looking for a better quality used version
of the game then you will be looking at something like $10 up to $14 dollars or
£7.60 and £10.65 in you are in the UK.
Be careful though there are a couple of acceptable used
copies on sale at Amazon.com at the time of writing that are overpriced with
price tags of $17 and $24 which is not much cheaper than a new copy of the game
once shipping is added in.
On to the new copies of the game which seem to be holding
value very well the cheapest will set you back $26.99 which is about £20 with
the price of a new copy going as high as $46.33 which is about £35 a plus for
most of these new copies they do include free shipping
