0 to Z of Playstation 1 Games - 2Xtreme

2Xtreme was the second entry in the Xtreme series formally the ESPN Extreme Games and is an extreme sports based games, it was developed by Sony Interactive Studios America and released on the Playstation 1 in 1996 in North America and in early 1997 in Europe, with players competing in various events around the world in various disciplines including rollerblading, skateboarding, mountain biking and snowboarding.

Tricks of different difficulties can be performed during the race to gain points and different-colored gates can be passed through for a variety of purposes. Players can also punch and kick opponents to knock them down. Health dictates how easily a player can be knocked over by an obstacle or other racer, and decreases when a player accelerates. 2Xtreme has four different difficulty levels. A player can choose in the options to race without the other computer characters, and also turn off fighting.

The games has two modes of play exhibition or a full season which consists of 12 tracks and creates a standings based on the what the player achieves at each track with the players score being calculated by the players race finish as well as points gained from knockdowns, gates and tricks, the game also offers two player split scene for both exhibition and season modes.

Sports game no story present.

GameSpot gave the game a 7.6 out of 10 citing For those who have a racing buddy, and the desire to work through their aggression in a desperate game of speed, 2 Xtreme's a fine choice. But for those going solo, other prettier racing games dish up more satisfying courses.

While IGN were far from friendly with their criticism giving the game a painful 2.2/10 this was for the PSP port of the original game with IGN concluding their review with This is by far the worst PSone title re-released for the PSP, and there's absolutely no reason whatsoever to buy it.

This is the part of 0 to Z where is visit four online retailers and see what the availability of the title is, and what price you would be looking at if you wanted to pick this title up the sites that I will be using for this are Amazon.com,  eStarland.com, retrogames.co.uk and Gamedude.com I know the last one is very location specific but from a podcast I listen too I have heard they have a huge stock of older games, I will also be including Ebay.com from now on.

So lets get down to business we may as well start with Gamedude, who will pay you $3 for your copy of the game, if you want to trade it in if you are in the market for a copy of the game then a copy from Gamedude will set you back $8.

Retrogames.co.uk and eStarland.com sadly do not have any copies of the game used or new available for sale, moving on to Amazon.com where this game is highly abundant and cheap with a used copy of very good quality for 1 cent you do have to include shipping which is $4.59  so $4.60 in total for a used copy in very good condition.

If you are looking for a new copy of the game they are significantly less abundant but not too overly priced with shipping you are looking at around the $26 mark or around £20 in the UK up to around $31 for the most expensive new copy on the market which is about £24.
Ebay.com the starting price for a used copy of the game are at a similar mark as Amazon however shipping costs are on the higher side than compared to Amazon sometimes double or higher depending on the seller.
