0 to Z of Playstation 1 Games - 101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure

101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure is an action adventure platformer game that is tied into the movie of the same name it was developed by Digital Eclipse Software, Inc and published by Eidos Interactive for the Playstation 1  and was released towards the end of the PS1’s lifecycle on the 20th November 2003 amazingly even with the game being set in London England the game did not get a Europe release and was only released in North America.

The game is a 3D platformer with fairly basic platforming mechanics in total there are 29 levels in each level you are tasked with collecting a set number of items from bones, snacks and apple and other things like that you also have to avoid enemies during you platforming exploits including cats, squirrels, bobbies plus Horace, Jasper and Cruella, while traversing the levels you are also searching for you lost brothers and sisters.

Movement wise Patch is able to run, jump, roll and dig his way through the levels the game also throws in some timed bonus levels for example collets so many bones in a set amount of time after each bonus level you get a small cut scene that consists of a few still frames from the movie with accompanying text.

In 101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure as you would expect by the title you play as Patch one of the famous 101 Dalmatians (formally famous not heard of them for years) Patch has been accidently abandoned in London during a move to the countryside, during the game you will roam the rooftops and streets of London and the surrounding countryside in you quest to find your way home.

At the same time the evil and dog fur obsessed Cruella De Vil has dognapped you brothers and sisters and you must team up with Patch’s favourite tv star Thunderbolt in order to save them before they lose their fur.

101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure due to its limited worldwide release combined with the game releasing at the point of crossover with the PS2 most review sites and gaming magazines had moved on from the PS1, as a result finding reviews for this game is tough, however I have managed to scrape together two review rating for the game.

Starting with IGN now this is not IGN’s review as they don’t have one this is the user rating which laughingly is based on two ratings with the gaming coming in at a modest 5.9, I’m much more polite than IGN’s scoring that called it mediocre.

The second rating for this game comes from GameFAQ’S this again Is a user rating with the game coming in at a solid 3/5 this is based on 17 ratings for the game, the game is currently in 429th place in the all time ratings for PS1 games according to GameFAQ’s .

This is the part of 0 to Z where is visit four online retailers and see what the availability of the title is, and what price you would be looking at if you wanted to pick this title up the sites that I will be using for this are Amazon.com,  eStarland.com, retrogames.co.uk and Gamedude.com I know the last one is very location specific but from a podcast I listen too I have heard they have a huge stock of older games.

So lets get down to business we may as well start with Gamedude if you are looking to sell your copy of 101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure you will be looking at $6 from Gamedude where as if you are looking to buy a copy from them you would be looking at an asking price of $14

No real surprise Retrogames.co.uk has no copies of the game for sale their supply of North American released games is limited.

eStarland has a used copy of 101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure slightly cheaper than Gamedude a complete copy of the game that if case, manual and disc will set you  back $11.95 which equates to about £9.10 eStarland are also looking for trade in copies of the game their offer is slightly less than Gamedude with them paying $5 for a copy of the game.

Amazon at the time of writing this has sixteen used copies of the game on sale the cheapest with an acceptable condition range from $1.39 up ro $2.99 these certainly have flaws one maybe missing the manual or cover art another has a worn disc, this pretty much sums up most of the used copies at the lower end of the price spectrum with the exception of one at $9.61 this copy has had the disc surface professionally resurfaced.

Used copies however don’t stop at around the $10 mark currently on sale for a good quality used copy prices go up as high as $17.58 + $6.49 for shipping which equates to about £13.39 and £4.94  which is definitely overpriced as a new copy can be picked up for $15.00 and $4.59 for shipping.
