0 to Z of Playstation 1 Games - 5 Star Racing

5 Stat racing was a budget title racing game developed by Kung Fu Games and Published by Phoenix games, this title was a late release during the Playstation 1s life cycle releasing exclusively in Europe on the 15th of November 2003.

5 Star Racing features both 1st and 3rd person camera perspectives for the racing and features five different modes Super Car Chase, Speed Duel, Custom Car Derby, Muscle Machines and Rally Rider For example Custom Car Derby from the Gameplay video there does not appear to be any kind of customisation this mode pits you again six rivals in a three lap race a total of four races from what I have seen the AI is not that good.

Racing game and a budget racing game at that so no story present.

As you would expect from a late Playstation 1 release with most magazine and site reviewers moving onto the Playstation 2 review are very hard to find so once again we head to GameFAQs where the user rating for this game is currently sat at 3.69/5 this is based off of eight user ratings with most being positive overall, two of those ratings gave the game a full 5/5 with an additional rating of 4/5, most gave the game a solid 3.5/5.

This is the part of 0 to Z where is visit five online retailers and see what the availability of the title is, and what price you would be looking at if you wanted to pick this title up, the sites that I will be using for this are Amazon.com,  eStarland.com, retrogames.co.uk and Gamedude.com I know the last one is very location specific but from a podcast I listen to and  I have heard they have a huge stock of older games, I will also be including Ebay.com as well

So lets get down to business with Gamedude who to no surprise don’t stock this Europe only release likewise eStarland and Retrogames.co.uk don’t stock a copy of the game either.

So as usual for one of these later lifespan releases we head to Amazon, the dot com version of the site do not stock the game either no surprise really so we head off to the dot co dot uk variant to find the game is pretty cheap not an extensive list of copies for sale but a decent amount starting off with just the disc which will set you back £1.50 this is a free delivery as well this converts to $1.95 or 1.66 in the EU zone,

For a used copy of the game that is complete with disc, manual, cover and case you are looking at anywhere between £2 and £6.50 there is also a used very good condition copy on sale for £8.99 + £4.05 for shipping, as well as a like new copy for £16.94 this copy states that the disc has been professionally cleaned as well, this converts to 18.76 or in North America $22.03.

Moving onto Ebay and they have a brand new copy of the game which comes with free international shipping for $9.45 which converts to £7.27 in the UK or 8.05 in the EU, a used copy of the game can be picked up cheaper though with one copy coming in at $3.87 or £2.98 in the UK or 3.29 in the EU the case is reported to have scuffs and minor cracks, this copy comes with free international shipping as well.

The game is highly abundant on Ebay with prices reaching a high of around the $15 mark several of the copies on sale come with free international shipping.
