0 to Z of Playstation 1 Games - Afraid Gear Another

Afraid Gear Another is a mecha fighting game with strategy and simulation elements and is the follow up to the 1998 game Afraid Gear, it was developed and published by Office Create for the Playstation 1,  and was released exclusively in Japan on the 14th of June 2001.

The game is pretty much the same as the 1998 release, the game is a mecha fighting game with strategy/simulation elements, the main focus of the game is to build and improve your mecha by fighting in tournaments and earning money to buy new parts and weapons.

The main battle system in the game is automated, you can take manual control however your options when in control are limited just like the previous game, you can choose what weapon to fire, the power level of the weapon and what part of the enemy you are targeting,

Like the previous game this one has two modes the first is Vs Mode see this is where you build and fight you mecha, the second is a new game mode, this is where the main sort of story mode where you unlock arenas to play in Vs mode as far as I can tell unlike the previous game, there are no anime cut scenes that certainly made the previous game stand out.

Reviews for this late Playstation 1 game are impossible to find so we head to GameFAQs for their user ratings, where 5 users have rated the game, with the game receiving an average rating of 3.70/5, with 3 out of the 5 users rating the game a 3.5/5, the remaining 2 users rated the game a 3/5 and a very generous 5/5.

Difficulty wise it is a 50/50 split with a total of 4 users rating the game with 2 rating the game just right difficulty wise, with the other 2 users rating the game as tough, playtime is a tough one to gauge with just one user rating their playtime, with a playtime length of 4 hours.

This is the part of 0 to Z where is visit five online retailers and see what the availability of the title is, and what price you would be looking at if you wanted to pick this title up, the sites that I will be using for this are Amazon.com,  eStarland.com, retrogames.co.uk and Gamedude.com I know the last one is very location specific, but from a podcast I listen to I’ve heard they have a huge stock of older games, I will also be including Ebay.com as well
