0 to Z Playstation 1 - Bakuten Shoot Beyblade 2002 Beybattle Tournament 2

Bakuten Shoot Beyblade 2002 Beybattle Tournament 2 is an action game based on the Japanese Manga series Beyblade known as Explosive Shoot Beyblade in Japan, the Manga series was written and illustrated by Takao Aoki, and was originally serialized in CoroCoro Comic between 1999 and 2004, as well as games the Beyblade series has been made in into a few Anime series, spin offs and films.

Bakuten Shoot Beyblade 2002 Beybattle Tournament 2 was developed and published by Japanese company Takara, with the game releasing on the 1st of August 2002, the game would release exclusively on the Playstation, and in Japan only.

Information in this section will be limited as it has been very difficult to find much information about the game so this will just be a general premise of the Beyblade series. Beyblade originally was a manga from the early 2000s but has since been adapted in to anime series, toys and video games.

The franchise is based around a group of kids who form teams and battle each other using highly powered spinning tops called Beyblades. Bakuten Shoot Beyblade 2002 - Beybattle Tournament 2 is the second game based on the Manga to appear on the Playstation and follows the exploits of two main characters a boy and a girl with the player able to play as either. See gameplay video below for a better idea of what the game is.

This being a Japanese only release and one that was fairly late in the Playstations life cycle critic reviews for the game are none existent. I have been able to find a couple of user based ratings for the game, the first from Gamespot where the game is currently sitting at a user rating of 7.1.

For the second user based ratings we head over to usual source GameFAQs where we find the game sitting at and average rating of 3.36/5, from a total of 11 user ratings, this works out at a slightly lower average than Gamespot.

Breaking down the average score we see that the game overall has proved popular with no user rating falling below 2.5/5 with 3 users rating the game at this lowest score, another 3 users rated the game at a fair 3/5 while another 2 found the game to be slightly better with a 3.5/5.

The remaining 3 users all rated the game differently with all 3 scoring the game very highly, with one each giving the game either a 4/5, a 4.5/5 or a full 5/5. Moving on from the games rating to the game difficulty, where we find a total of 7 users rating this category, with a significant lean towards the game having just the right difficulty level, the remaining users rating the game as being easy, averaging out at a easy to just right difficulty level.

Lastly we have the games lifespan with 6 users rating this category with a decent spread of game times ranging from just 1 hour, up to a maximum of 12 hours with the game, a slight majority spending around 4 hours with the game, averaging out this comes to an average lifespan of around 5.2 hours.

This is the part of 0 to Z where is visit four online retailers and see what the availability of the title is, and what price you would be looking at if you wanted to pick this title up, the sites that I will be using for this are Amazon.com, eStarland.com, retrogames.co.uk and Gamedude.com I know the last one is very location specific, but from a podcast I listen to, I’ve heard they have a huge stock of older games, Ebay has now been dropped unless the game is unavailable at other retailers.

So lets get down to business with Gamedude who unsurprisingly don’t stock this Japanese exclusive release, same goes for Retrogames.co.uk and eStarland.com, so our last hope rests with Amazon.com in out search for a copy of this game.

Amazon do stock a decent number of copies of the game, both new and used copies of the game are available, with prices starting at a very reasonable $8.16 for a very good condition copy of the game, which also comes with free shipping.

Another very good condition copy as well as a good condition copy are available for $8.21 again coming with free shipping. A majority of the used copies are priced between $8 and $12. with prices for a used copy currently peaking around $21, with the exception of one overpriced copy which is at $32.50 largely due to the huge shipping cost.

A fair number of new copies are available as well with prices starting again like the used copyies at a reasonable point of $12.03 this copy comes with free shipping as well. A few more new copies coming in at between $14.90 and $16.27 again these copies come with free shipping.

A few more new copies are priced at slightly higher with the overall high for all bar one new copy coming in at around the $31 mark. The remaining one new copy is much too overpriced compared to the rest with a price of $139.99.
